The 2025 season was another great one for the OWCA Cross Country team. Across each of the 12 events, OW runners showed up, gave it their all and came away with plenty to be proud of: many personal bests, several individual wins and some great team results.

Cross country runnersHighlights included our Women’s Open team coming first at the Tan Track relay and the OWCC club achieving the team win at the Brighton 8km, being first to get four runners across the line. Adam Pyke (OW2013) had another fantastic season, picking up Athlete of the Year for the sixth time since 2015. He did it in style, winning all six races he entered this year.

As for the Club Championship, the OW Open team finished fifth, which is a step up from last year and a solid result, especially since we’re a smaller club compared to some that have multiple teams in the Open division.

OWCA CC competes against ten other APS clubs in the Associated Public Schools Old Collegians Amateur Athletic Association (APSOC). From April to September, there are runs on- and off-road at some great locations around Melbourne, with distances from 4km to 21km. The events are for everyone and the afternoon teas afterwards are always a good chance for a chat and to meet other runners.

If you’re thinking about joining, everyone is welcome, including friends and family of OWs together with current students. The next season starts in April 2026, so there’s plenty of time to get ready.
