It was another rewarding and successful year for Collegians X Hockey Club. The growth of the club, both on and off the field, has been really encouraging to see and is a credit to the players, coaches and supporters who continue to give their time and energy.
This season, we were delighted to welcome Bryce Tereszkiewicz (OW2020) to the club. Bryce made an immediate impact and enjoyed a fabulous year, bringing a burst of youth and enthusiasm that lifted those around him. His contribution was felt both on the pitch and socially, helping to strengthen the culture that makes our club such a unique and welcoming place.
On the women’s side, Brittany Collins (OW2012) once again led the charge. Under her guidance, the team has been competitive all year, showing great determination and plenty of promise for the future. The mix of skill, effort and camaraderie has made them one of the most exciting parts of the club to watch this year and they should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
The men’s teams also achieved great success. The Seconds finished the regular season in third place, putting together strong performances and showing resilience throughout. Although disappointed to bow out in the first final, the team can take confidence in the depth and potential they have built for next year.
The men’s Firsts were outstanding this season. Finishing two games clear on top of the ladder, they dominated their competition and proved themselves as the benchmark team. Their dominance carried through to the Grand Final against Frankston, where they sealed victory with a 3–1 scoreline. Two early goals in the first quarter gave them control, before adding a decisive third in the final term. This triumph marks the club’s first premiership in 13 years, celebrated in front of a strong crowd of past members and supporters, with many more tuning in via the live stream. A sensational achievement and a testament to the team’s ability to maintain momentum all year.
The strength of Collegians X Hockey Club lies not only in results but also in the friendships, community and inclusive spirit that continues to grow stronger each year. The club is enormously appreciative of the ongoing support from the OWCA, whose encouragement and backing helps us thrive. Off the pitch, our members enjoy a vibrant social calendar and the bonds formed here extend well beyond game day.
Looking ahead, the club is already preparing for the mid-week summer competition and is keen to welcome anyone interested in playing. Whether you are an experienced player looking for a fresh challenge or someone completely new to the sport, Collegians X Hockey Club provides a fun, social and supportive environment. It is more than just hockey, it is about belonging to a community that values teamwork, spirit and friendship.
