Design and Technology Exhibition

After a year that started with raging bushfires and ended with pandemic-related restrictions, many Year 8 students were inspired to solve contemporary and future issues through design solutions.

As part of a mock start-up business, students designed products which included ethical and sustainable fashion items, resuable masks, virtual reality and much more, which addressed issues such as environmental sustainability, increasing diversity and inclusiveness, Indigenous education rates and mental health. They then presented their business concepts and solutions at a showcase in the final week of Term 4 for staff and students, with a keynote presentation from Australian social entrepreneur, Jeremy Meltzer (OW1993).

This process enabled them to engage with real-world experiences, problem-solving and global issues as part of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, which students at Wesley study from Years 7 to 10.
