Bruce Gregory Bursary
Bruce Gregory (OW1944) enjoyed an extraordinary association with Wesley College spanning more than 50 years. Having attended Wesley in the 1940s, which was only possible because he received a scholarship, he returned as a teacher in 1952 and was appointed the second Head of Syndal (later Glen Waverley) in 1968, a position he held until 1976. He subsequently returned to St Kilda Road as a senior teacher before becoming Executive Officer of the Old Wesley Collegians Association, retiring in 2002. A much-loved and respected member of the Wesley community, Bruce was affectionately known as “Mr Wesley”, reflecting his lifelong dedication to the College.
The Bruce Gregory Bursary honours his significant contribution to Wesley, the power of the scholarship he received, and his enduring connection with generations of students and Old Collegians. Through the generosity of Bruce and his wife Judith, together with the ongoing support of the Wesley community, particularly Old Wesley Collegians, the bursary provides opportunities for students who might otherwise be unable to attend the College, ensuring Bruce's legacy continues to make a meaningful difference.
